OM Festival 27 brought together composers from around the world for six nights of music, starting with the US premiere of the documentary Subotnick: Portrait of an Electronic Music Pioneer and topped off with the world premiere of Eivind Buene’s Other Minds-commissioned string quartet Chorales. Meanwhile, our series The Nature of Music has presented artists from a variety of disciplines whose work combines environmentalism and the arts and our Latitudes series featured a performance by New York’s Ghost Ensemble. Our Special Events included a keyboard concert celebrating the 80th birthday of conductor and pianist Dennis Russell Davies and a screening of the documentary film Following Pál about composer and cellist Pál Hermann.
Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies joined us for a benefit recital of solo and piano four-hands music to celebrate Davies’ 80th birthday, performing music by Laurie Anderson, Philip Glass, John Cage, and Bedřich Smetana.

New York’s Ghost Ensemble joined us at St John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco to present new works commissioned for the 2022-23 season by composers Sky Macklay, Ben Richter, and Catherine Lamb.
OM Records continues to release new and exciting works on a regular basis. We’ve made our entire catalog available on Bandcamp as well as on our webstore, so be sure to check back frequently to see what we’re up to. Recent releases include CDs by Samuel Adams, Anthony Braxton and James Fei, and Cheryl Leonard, an LP by Thollem, Terry Riley, and Nels Cline, and a special DVD release by Carol Law and Charles Amirkhanian.

Music From Other Minds is a weekly two-hour radio program of new and unusual music by innovative composers and performers around the world. Produced and presented by Other Minds staff members and associates Liam Herb, Mark Abramson, Ed Herrmann, Joseph Bohigian, and Charles Amirkhanian. Air time is 8pm Sunday evenings on KALW 91.7 FM in the San Francisco Bay Area.
